Plastic Railroad Ties

Knowing how much plastic is being used and discarded each year, and knowing that plastic is not biodegradable, we are proud of the fact that we have found an echo- friendly way to keep vast amounts of plastic out of landfills. As plastic railroad ties manufacturers our patented technology mixes extremely tough, landfill-bound, plastics that can’t even be processed by our competitors, making our railroad ties the strongest, “Greenest“, longest lasting ties on the market. Our raw material is low and we pass the savings on to you.
Superior strength, low price
One component of our specially formulated ties’ is our extremely tough, cross-linked polyethylene plastic. We use a low-heat process to preserve the strength and rigidity of our raw materials; without our specialized equipment and technique, we would not be able to process our raw material, and would have to use lesser plastics, like our competitors. Because no one else is equipped to process it, our raw material is inexpensive and our plastic railroad ties are more cost effective for you.
How it’s made
Each shipment of plastic our suppliers deliver is thoroughly inspected and tested for quality. After it melted down, the molten plastic mixture is fed into our panted processing equipment and finally into our molds to dry. After the final product is removed, each plastic railroad tie is inspected, measured and tested to verify our quality standards are met and AREMA standards are exceeded.
Process control
Our plant site and process are AAR M- 1003 compliant and we use Stastical Process Control (SPC) to make sure that our product’s quality is integrated into the design and process of every railroad tie. Our products are continually tested to ensure the highest quality and performance. Learn more by visiting our Quality Assurance page.
Specifications
Atlas’ plastic railroad ties meet or exceed all of the technical specifications recommended by the American Railway Engineers Maintenance-of-way Association (AREMA) Committee 30 for composite cross ties.
